• Do Alcon Lighting’s linear grid ceiling lights work with Armstrong grid ceilings?

  Yes. Alcon Lighting offers grid ceiling lights designed to work with Armstrong grids and other popular grid manufacturers with a 9/16” or 15/16” T-bar grid mounting or 9/16” screw slot mounting.

  What is the difference between a T-bar grid mounting and a screw slot grid mounting?

  The main difference lies in the type of grid system they are compatible with and the method of securing the lights to the grid. A T-bar grid ceiling mount is designed for T-bar grid ceilings, using clips or brackets to attach the linear LED lights along the T-bars. A screw slot mount is used for ceilings with elongated slots, allowing for flexible positioning of the lights using adjustable brackets or hooks inserted into the slots.

  Are Alcon Lighting linear ceiling lights dimmable?

  Yes. Most of our linear LED ceiling lights come standard with dimming. Please refer to the specification sheet available on each product page for information on the dimming driver options available for each fixture.

  How do you determine the lumens needed for ceiling lights?

  The lumens needed vary based on the type of space and desired tasks to be performed, as well as the combination of any other planned fixtures. Use our lumens calculator to determine the total lumens needed for a room. Then, select lights to deliver the projected total lumens.

  Lumens for linear lights are typically provided in lumens per foot. For example, a four-foot linear light that provides 260 lm/ft delivers 1,040 lumens.

• What color temperature should I choose for linear ceiling lights?

  The right color temperature for ceiling lights in a space depends on the desired ambiance and functionality of a space.

  • Warm white (2700K to 3000K) lighting is generally used when relaxation and a soothing ambiance are desired. This is often ideal for hallways, restaurants and spas
  • Neutral White (3500K-4000K) light strikes a balance between warm and cool tones. This is often preferred for spaces like offices, classrooms and retail stores
  • Cool White (5000K-6500K) lighting appears brighter and has a slightly bluish hue. This delivers a crisp and invigorating illumination, making it suitable for task-oriented areas, such as kitchens, workspaces and hospitals
  What color tuning and color-changing control options does Alcon Lighting offer?

  Alcon Lighting offers a variety of control options:

  • Color temperature switch allows lights to be field-adjusted between three color temperatures, such as 3000K/3500K/4000K or 3500K/4000K/5000K
  • Tunable-white lighting offers a full range of color temperature control via handheld or desktop remote, wall control, voice app or smartphone app
  • RGBW color-changing lighting allows lighting to be adjusted to a specific hue at a set color temperature, such as 3000K or 4000K, controlled via handheld or desktop remote, wall controls or app
