LED Track Lighting FAQ

  • Track lighting is a versatile lighting system with a track channel mounted to ceilings or walls attached with adjustable fixtures. This allows control over lighting direction, making it ideal for highlighting specific design elements, art, signage, displays and architectural features.

LED lighting offers energy efficiency, longer lifespan and reduced maintenance costs. LED track lights produce high-quality illumination, providing consistent color rendering and brightness levels crucial for accurately showcasing designs.

There are three types of track lighting, each with its own advantages and suitable for different applications:

    • H-Type Track Lighting (Halo or Halo-type): H-type track lighting features a "Halo" or "H" shaped track where the fixtures attach. It offers a variety of fixture options, including spotlights, pendants and decorative elements. Halo track lighting is known for its ease of installation and compatibility with various track lighting accessories.
    • J-Type Track Lighting (Junolite or Juno-type): J-type track lighting, also known as Junolite or Juno-type, features a "J" shaped track. It's designed for applications that require more precise aiming and adjustability of fixtures. Juno track lights are commonly used in settings where accent lighting is crucial, such as galleries and retail displays.
    • L-Type Track Lighting (Lightolier or Lightolier-type): L-type track lighting, often referred to as Lightolier or Lightolier-type, has an "L" shaped track profile. It’s designed for greater flexibility in lighting design and installation, allowing for various fixture orientations and angles. Lightolier track lights are suitable for complex lighting setups in commercial and architectural spaces.

Consider the specific lighting requirements of your project and the desired level of adjustability when choosing the appropriate track lighting type.

  • Consider the desired ambience and functionality of the space. Warmer color temperatures (2700K-3000K) create an intimate atmosphere suitable for restaurants or retail spaces. Cooler temperatures (4000K-5000K) are better for task-oriented areas such as offices or galleries.

Yes, Alcon Lighting track systems offer customizable track lengths, fixture types, beam spreads and finishes, as well as a range of connectors and accessories. This adaptability allows architects and designers to craft the lighting to the project’s specific requirements.

Yes. Choosing fixtures with glare-reducing features and using accessories, such as louvers, can reduce unwanted glare.
